Andy Jenner and Son
Hi,
I'm Andy's youngest son Rupert and I've put this site together for a few reasons.
Firstly,
because the world lost Andy in November 2022.
The reprinting and distribution of Andy's book is a posthumous nod to his general brilliance as a carpenter and master builder. His observations, technical knowledge and musings are beautifully written and rich with imagery ... much like his blog. The republishing of his book and blogs are a chance to continue his legacy.
Secondly,
I enjoy carrying on the family trade and hope to work on Queensland's iconic buildings for as long as I can get up a ladder!
I started my apprenticeship as a carpenter with dad from 2002 until his retirement fifteen years later. It was a privilege to be able to work with and learn from him. As I continue to work on Queenslanders by myself, I often feel as though Dad is still looking over my shoulder, especially if I get a measurement wrong!
If you need any work done on your house feel free to get in touch with me via the contact info button. I would love to be a part of your Queenslander restoration... but enough shameless pluggery!
Thirdly,
after his third and "final run" of self-published and self-distributed books, Andy was happy to turn his back on the whole thing. He had pretty much retired from the trade and his health was becoming a more pressing issue. However, once the books sold out, more and more people started asking where to get a copy.
My siblings and I have decided to do another run of dad's book as there has been enough interest to warrant it. We don't plan to make great profits as there is a great deal of effort and cost involved in printing, marketing and distribution. Any profits will go towards another reprint in the future, should there be a need. If not, we'll buy a few beers in Andy's honour... It's what he would have wanted!
Thank you for your interest and thanks for caring about your Queenslander.
Best wishes,
Andy's kids: Bart, Harriet, and Rupert.
